I am the biggest enthusiast when it comes to food! I’m a true foodie at heart!
So it’s hard when you have to continually do diets, cleanses and detoxes… just to fix your skin!
I feel like I’ve almost done every single type of cleanse out there!
And when you don’t see results right away, boy can it be discouraging.
During my 2 years of battling acne, I’ve come up with a few recipes that can get you on the quick track to healing your skin!
Heal my skin with food?
Yes! And I believe that’s the best way.
Our diet plays a huge role in our acne, and I believe that it’s not talked about enough!
Doctors tend to just prescribe medication after medication to attempt to heal your skin, but they tend to leave out the important role your diet plays in it all.
Here are a few recipes that I’ve been making lately that has really helped to clear my skin.
The results are in the benefits of each of these specifically, thought out ingredients I’ve put in each recipe!
Breakfast-
Wild Blueberry Quinoa
1 Cup of cooked quinoa
1/2 cup of frozen wild blueberries (I usually like to add a bit more;)
A drizzle of pure maple syrup for sweetness
A dash of cinnamon
*Cook the quinoa, and then add the frozen blueberries and allow to sit and warm the delicious purple goodness! Stir around and watch the color paint the quinoa. Then add the syrup and the cinnamon for a sweet, healthy breakfast!
This may not taste as delicious as a crispy Belgian waffle (ugh my favorite!), but starting my day off with eating a breakfast like this, is doing wonders for my health and skin! These wild blueberries are packed with antioxidants, and the protein in the quinoa will make my skin very happy!
Lunch-
Gut Healing Soup-
2 large Sweet Potatoes-orange ones
3 Large Carrots
1 medium sized onion
1 zucchini
2-3 cloves of Garlic
Beef bone broth
Veggie broth
Spinach
1 tsp- Turmeric
1 1/2 tbsp-Cumin
1 tsp- Pepper
1 tbsp-Garlic powder
1 tbsp- onion powder
Cut up all the veggies, and add to a crockpot, add in the bone broth and fill the rest up with vegetable broth. Add in the spices (I usually add it in a lot more) and then add some spinach in 15 minutes before you eat it.
This recipe has been amazing for my skin! The orange food in here is filled with beta- carotene, which is so amazing for healing acne! And the bone broth is really helpful to heal your gut lining! Also, soup is simply so cozy and delicious during these winter months!
Dinner-
Veggie +Salmon bowl
1 cup of Cooked quinoa
1 orange sweet potato diced
1/2 onion sliced
1/2 red pepper sliced
Handful of spinach chopped
Grilled salmon
Pepper
Cumin
Garlic powder
Turmeric
Coconut aminos (or soy sauce)
Lemon
Minced garlic
Cook the quinoa. In a separate pan grill the veggies (except for the spinach). Bake the salmon and add lots of lemon and minced garlic on top. Then add it altogether on a bed of spinach. Sprinkle some coconut aminos and spices on top and enjoy this super healthy, skin clearing dinner!
This has been my absolute favorite meal lately! First off, I eat a pescatarian diet, so fish is where it’s at for me! But I feel so good knowing that I’m literally just eating pure healthy foods that will dramatically help clear my skin! Salmon is packed full of omega-3’s, amazing for healing acne prone skin!
What are you favorite meals to heal acne prone skin?
